| Who we are... |
| 315 Skate Shop was
established in 2008 by Brandon Burch, an avid skateboarder looking to
bring a core shop to his home city of Syracuse, NY.
The main goal of the shop was to offer
good products at good prices with good sound advice. This concept has
never changed . We are a skater owned and operated shop...If you can't
skate what advice can you give?
We sell
what we know, We know what we sell
We are now an online outlet also and
offer a full range of products from the largest brands we now have our
stock held in several warehouses in the US. This means that your order
may take 10 working days to arrive at your door. If you are concerned
about your order please email 315skate@live.com Please quote your order
number with all correspondence.
We aim to keep the local skate scene
alive and kicking by organizing as many events as possible and
by keeping people informed of what is going on via our newsletter.
We have a variety of decks in stock and
everything else you will need to get you skating and then some.
Thank you for your support, and please
remember to buy from independent skater owned shops where possible.
As
skaters, we are all in this together. There will be no bailout for us.
Once independent shops are gone they will not return and it's up to all
of us to make sure the scene stays alive.

Are Cheap Skateboards OK to Buy
and Ride?
With how popular skateboarding is, there are
piles of cheaper skateboards out there. Some just look cheap, but some have
trusted brand names, or even pro skateboarder endorsements. How do you tell
if a cheaper skateboard that you've found at your local department store or
sporting goods section is a good skateboard or not?
Answer: it
usually depends on how serious you want to be about your skateboarding. If
you want to casually skate every once is a while, then some of these
cheaper skateboards might work out just fine. But, if you want to make
sure that you have as good of a starting experience as you can, and if you
think you will skate more than every once-in-a-while, then I would
recommend getting a pro-grade skateboard. At least with one of those, you
would know that your gear won’t hold you back. Quality does make a huge
difference.
Why Shop At
An Independent Shop?
Answer: customer service and product
knowledge. Usually, at shops like Zumiez or a
sporting goods store, the people who work there won't really know very much
about skateboarding. Often they are just young people with the "right look"
for the store.
At a locally owned skateboard shop, you
should get personal and invested customer service. Just to open your own
skateboard shop is a lot of work, and it takes someone who really loves
skateboarding to do it. The skate shop is the place to go to get real advice
on what to buy. Plus, they can help you with things like putting on griptape,
assembling your board, etc.
The second reason for shopping at your local
skateboard shop is better selection. Thsi does not mean more
selection, but better. Most chain stores won't carry high end
equipment, and they won't have as good of a selection. Also, your local
skate shop will carry things that chain shops just can't, like decks made
locally, and gear made by smaller companies.
Several core skateboarding brands aren't even
available in huge chain mall stores. This sometimes happens because certain
brands just refuse to sell in shops like that.
The third reason for shopping at local
skateboard shops is the help and advice that you can get. This ties
into the customer service up above, but more than just telling you what to
buy, the people at your local skate shop can help you actually skate better.
They can answer questions, give you trick tips, and add that personal touch
that we all need from time to time. You won't get that in your mall stores,
unless you are very very lucky.
The final reason I suggest going to your
local skateboard shop is that they often act as the hub for your local
skateboard scene. If you want to know what's going on in your area,
skate shops are the best place to ask. Things like contests, demos, tours,
parties - you name it. Also, you can meet people, make friends, and maybe
even get sponsored by the shop if you are good enough.
Local skateboard shops are important to the
life of your local skateboarding area, and shopping at them is a great way
to get the gear that's right for you, to get good knowledgeable service, to
get unique and local brands, and to find out what's going on near you.
Your local skate shop cares about you as a
customer and will ensure you get the very best products available as well as
provide advice and resources for demos, contests and all sorts projects that
enhance your local skate scene - projects that a discount store will never
undertake.
...who is going
to host a skate jam or a best trick contest in your city ? Think about
who is part of your community and who is taking your money. You aren't
without options. So as skaters, we are all in this together. There will
be no bailout for us. Once independent shops are gone they will not return
and it's up to all of us to make sure the scene stays alive. Remember that
next time you're about to click "buy."
What kind of skateboard should I buy ?
To choose the first and right skateboard
for you, I advise you to get help from the skate shop salesman. Tell him
that you are beginner, what you want to do with your skateboard and I
guarantee that he will help to choose apropos skateboard exactly for you.
